Hope or Fancy?

Do you know the legend of the Dutch boy, Hans Brinker? One day, Hans passed dyke on his way of the errand. Accidentally, he saw that there was a hole on the dyke; water was leaking. Moreover, the hole was little by little getting bigger. He didn’t ignore what he saw. He put his finger in the dyke to prevent a flood for whole night. Finally he saved not only his town, but also his country.

It is very simple logic. If there is a hole, we should fill it up to prevent problem. However, I can see that some media practitioners in the Philippines are making a hole bigger instead of fix it. I am not sure that the media practitioners in the Philippines are aware of what they are doing to the people because even people don’t know what happen to them; it happens too slowly and unconsciously. People are cultivating; definitely, it is a big problem.

Since a decade ago, there is a media trend in the universe; that is quiz-show boom. Quiz show is not just a program, now it can be considered as a social phenomenon. Quiz show tempts people that anyone can be winner to get the big prize that’s why people are crazy in quiz show. People might think that broadcasting company will cost a lot of money for the prize of quiz show. However, company will have more income than its cost.

The game show, “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” is one of the most popular quiz show in the world. According to American Broadcasting Company (ABC), when it was aired 13 episodes in the U.S, company spent only $ 1.4 million. It is not a big deal for ABC because if company produces one episode of program in prime time, they need to spend more. For example, Fox TV cost $ 3 million for only one episode of X-File because of the performance fees of actors. And 22 million people watched the last episode of “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” then.

In addition, it is the basic format of the edutainment which is combination of education and entertainment; company can use the format of quiz show as long as company wants. Also it promotes participation of the audiences so it can be friendlier to the audience; Audiences can put themselves into participator’s shoes easily with intimacy.

Quiz show’s commercial value was already proven for past decade. That’s why now there is war among quiz shows to get the attention of audience. How many quiz shows are in the Philippines? There are “Game KNB?”, “Wheel of Fortune”, “Singing Bee”, “All Star K”, “Tok Tok Tok 1 Million”, “Go Bingo” and “Wawawe.” Really a lot!

Traditionally, quiz show had known as a contest of intelligence. It gives enthusiasm to satisfy intellectual curiosity of life to the audiences and audience can feel catharsis when they get the answers which participants cannot answer. The reason is that psychologically, audiences set themselves in the quiz show as participants; when they see the question, automatically they try to look for the answer. Although quiz show is quite old format, people still like it.

However, nowadays quiz shows in the Philippines are no longer a contest of intelligence; it is contest of measuring fortune like gambling. In the quiz show, we can see the beautiful women who are almost naked to make good the visual views like in the casino and when participants choose the box which contains money, the audiences are so quite like the time when they bet the money.

I think, some game shows in the Philippines give harms to the mentality of audiences. There was the opportunity to watch “Wawawe” with my friend. I still remember that what my friend told me when participant got the 30,000 pesos. She said, “Oh! Only 30,000 pesos?” That time, I really felt awkward. Even for me as a Korean, that is not small money. But audiences are already treated that money as a small prize. This kind of quiz show makes people desire to earn money in easy way like once-in-a-life-time chance as gambling. These kinds of quiz show never ask the meaning of life, they ask the meaning of money in life using the most impulsive way.

According to psychologist, when people answer the question, they are nerves, so in the human nerve system releases epinephrine which is known as adrenaline. This substance makes people feel pleasure if they get the answer but if not, they feel depression. This is almost same situation when people are doing gambling.

I am sure that there are people who don’t agree with me because I already asked some of my friends’ opinion about these quiz shows, some of them answered that they don’t agree with me because they cannot find any harm from it. Even they told me that quiz shows give hope to the people. People are already accustomed themselves to these kinds of quiz show; they are cultivated by media. Hope? What is the meaning of hope? Can we call the expectation of the chance to earn money without effort or by fortune as a hope? No way! Although people cannot feel the harms of those kinds of quiz show now, in the long run, surely these quiz shows will affect on the mentality of people and it never bring positive result in their life and country.

One more thing I concern is the target audiences. Surly target audiences are family. How could people let their children be exposed by those gambling and sexual images? They are the future of the country. If their mentalities are spoiled, there will be darkness of the country. For the adults, they are matured enough to detect a harm, but for children, they are easily influenced by environment. If building is destroyed, we can fix it easily however how could we fix the mentalities of children? Although there is a way, it will take quite long time.

The most popular TV program In Argentina is also quiz show. But the prize of this quiz show is not the money, it is a job. The reason is that, the most serious problem in Argentina is a getting a job. How about in the Philippines? Most people’s concern is money because the Philippines is suffering by poverty. These kinds of programs touch the most sensitive part of its audience to get the attention. Broadcasting companies don’t care of audiences. These kinds of quiz shows never help people; they just give fancy to the people with harms.

Quiz shows are evolved. The FOX TV’s quiz show, “The Moment of Truth” is combination of quiz show and reality show. The participants ware a lie detector and they should answer the private and embarrassed questions such as “Have you upload your sex video in internet?” and “As a health trainer, have you unnecessarily touched woman customer’s body?” There are 21 questions and if participants answer everything without the alarm of lie detector, they will get half million dollars. We don’t know that sooner, you are the one who answer those silly questions in front of millions of people to earn money. Someone says that the first quiz of history is the quiz of Sphinx. According to legend, if people cannot answer the question, Sphinx kills the people. Now our mentalities can be killed by the Sphinx which mane is quiz show.

Have you seen a pearl? A pearl is not expensive jewel compared to other jewels. It doesnt have splendid color and bright shine unlike diamond, ruby and sapphire. However many people like pearl as a jewel and still buy them a lot. Why people like pearl? I remember one line from the old movie I watched before, The more I see you, more I like you. I think this is the best description of the reason why people like a pearl. A pearl has something which make us to keep our eyes on it.

Frankly, when the beginning of the REYNA NING FLORES DE MAYO 2008, Dungao, Rochelle Kai T, 16, 2nd year nursing student at Angeles University Foundation, didnt catch my attention at all because there were taller and more beautiful contestants. However when Judge announced that Dungao was the Grand Winner of REYNA NING FLORES DE MAYO 2008 in Saturday evening, all the audiences at SM City Clark and I were flapping our hand to congratulate her winning; I was not surprised of her winning because she deserved it; we, audiences, were already tempted by her charms.

I thought she was like a pearl. Although she is just 5.4 feet and not that beautiful as top beauty queens, she surly has something to keep our eyes on her. After the events, I waited for quite long time to interview her because a lot of audiences wanted to take picture with her; no one hesitated to approach her. During that time, I observed her carefully because I wanted to know what her beauty is; she was really remind me the line, The more I see you, more I like you. And, I finally found out what makes her beauty; that was her smile. Like pearl shows its soft and warm shine, her smile spreads its own fragrance silently; it is like smooth moonlight in the peaceful night; not too bright and splendid but without our notice, it is already everywhere she rounded. Her smile makes others feel comfortable and easy.

REYNA NING FLORES DE MAYO 2008 was her second time to prove her beauty. In 2007, she got Miss Friendship, Photogenic and 1st runner-up in Miss Angeles University.

Although she showed up the beauty to others, she doesnt want to be a famous beauty queen or actress; she wants to go for her dream as a surgeon. But she said, I was really scared end up the original pageant but I guess I really love this.

Unlike the result of the events, her motivation of joining is quite simple, she told me, A Lot of people told me about this so I first thought about it and I realize that its part of Filipino culture so I am proud to join it. She hadnt expected to be the Grand Winner of REYNA NING FLORES DE MAYO 2008 because she thought there are lots of beautiful co-contestants. During interview, she was keeping on her smile, that is why I want to make her embarrassed but I failed. I asked her that what are you gonna do using your prize. Without hesitation, she answered, I am gonna share with people supported me; people support my clothes, make up and staff here. Not just only me

I guess our readers are curious of one question, so I asked what our readers want to ask, Do you have boyfriend? If you dont who is you ideal guy? Her answer was almost shouting. She strongly said, No! and she added, Anyone someone who has great personality sense of humor. Thats all. I dont care if he cute, tall or something. I asked question to her again, Is that true? She answered with her shinny smile, Yes!

End of the interview she said, Beauty is actually not in the outside. It may also be measured in the inside. Actually, I think every one is beautiful. It is being who you are. Its not just being good or bad. Its doing things from the heart. And I guess that is true. If diamond is the king of jewel, pearl is the queen of native stone.  People wear diamond some special event like party, because its beauty is quite strong and it requires some conditions to ware it like beautiful clothes. However, pearl is different from diamond. A pearl is easily matched with other materials and it doesnt require many conditions like clothes and place. Although people dont work on pearl, it shows its beauty by itself like Dungao. Her beauty is natural and pure; its not only outside of her, it is also inside of her.

Value innovation and business (2)

A former chairman and chief executive officer of Hewlett-Packard, Carly Fiorina who was chosen the most powerful woman in business by the Fortune magazine made a speech in Sanford University Venture Program. She said, “...Most of time people are afraid of is something new. The essence of entrepreneurship is risk taking. The essence of business is risk taking. Taking a risk is all about trying something new... so change is always resisted. Always! ... Even if what they have is not satisfying to them, a lot of people are afraid to venture into unknown...”

Value innovation is all about trying something new because it is starting with challenging to the traditional processes and standard strategies of existing business market. How does company reduce the risks from Changes for value innovation? We all know that the answer is plan which is strategy.

The most well-known value innovation is, “Blue Ocean Strategy.” The name "Blue Ocean Strategy" was introduced in the Harvard Business Review article published in October 2004 by W. Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne. They are professors of Strategy and Management at INSEAD in U.S.A. And than in 2005, they published the book, “Blue Ocean Strategy.”

The “Blue Ocean” means the new market which bestows a sustaining power to grow in the business and there is less competition. On the contrary there is Red Ocean which means the existing traditional market which has lots of competitions.

In order to create “Blue Ocean,” there are four things to consider. The first one is what factor company should create among the factors others competitors don’t have; the second one is what factor company reduce among what it has; the third one is what factor company should raise; lastly, what unnecessary part company should eliminate.

Also company must avoid decentralizing its competitive powers to create “Blue Ocean” and it should have powerful and impressive slogan which is simple and clear like Nike’s “Just Do It” and Adidas’ “Impossible Is Nothing.”  Company makes differences through looking for the alternatives instead of bench-marking competitors. Alternatives are different from substitutes. Substitutes have same purpose but different shapes like note, PDA and computer; their purpose is to record something. In the other hand, alternatives have same purpose but different functions and shapes like theater and restaurant; their purpose is severe people to entertain but theater has totally different function and shape from restaurant.

But one thing company should be careful about is that value innovation is not establishing a new company; when company looks for the alternatives, they are possibly produced in competitive power and capability of the company, not from the outside of company.

In the market, there are three types of customers. The first type of customers is the people who are already using company’s product and they never hesitate to try better comparative ones; they are the smallest group. The second type of customers is the people who don’t agree with the value of product or don’t have economic power to purchase product; they are middle size of group. And the third type of customers who are out of the focus of company; they are the biggest group. Value innovation should focus the strongest common points of all three types of customers in order to bring them into new market; this is core of value innovation.

We can find perfect example of value innovation from the book, “Blue Ocean Strategy.” When other Air Lines focused long distance airlines like between countries or big cities, Southwest Airlines focused short distance airlines. Southwest Airlines built many new airlines among small cities and served them in low price to the customers.  Southwest Airlines aimed new customers who are using cars to travel city to another city; it’s clearly new market for the company. South West Air Line found alternatives; airplane has different function and shape from car but it has same purpose. And the car travelers are not the customers of Air Lines. Besides Southwest Airlines used what company has to create, “Blue Ocean.”

The authors of the “Blue Ocean Strategy, Kim & Mauborgne said, “Although the term “Blue Oceans” is new, their existence is not...They are a feature of business life, past and present.” Meaning to say, this value innovation is just systematic analysis of what happened in the business field in the past and present. Although it can be helpful to the company which needs the changes to achieve the success, it doesn’t work for every company. If companies can fin their own way to prosper the businesses, we can consider it as a value innovation. Also, if new market company created has lots of competitors, that is time to do value innovation again.

                                 Value innovation and business (1)

Why do people chew a gum? Possibly it’s to eliminate malodorous breath or to have something worthwhile to chew and give their mouth a refreshing savor. But some may have other motive why they chew the so called “gum”. Did you know that it can produce a perfume-like effect? Unbelievable yet true! In Japan, there is the gum tagged “Fuwarinka.” It’s a big hit in Japan since it’s quite startling. After an hour of chewing “Fuwarinka”, you can distinguish a fragrant, rose and lemon like smell from your body. It may seem like magic but the secret is quite easy. After chewing “Fuwarinka,” the body absorbs particles that confide the fragrant substances of gum, and they’ll go out through sweat glands of the body.

We live in a dynamic and fast changing world; therefore the market is quickly shifting too. Moreover there are already a lot of the analogous products and competitors in the business field resulting to variable customer demand. If customers dislike something about a certain product, they’ll never hesitate to try other comparative ones. Definitely, business today is like infinite challenge. Companies should immediately formulate strategies in order to adapt with their field’s situational changes and stand out in this dog-eat-dog world!

Before, the key to success is relative to adaptation on situational changes, but this isn’t enough now. If company wants to make the success, company is the one which give changes to the market; this is the key of today business. One key to attain a favorable change and update is through innovation. We can consider innovation as the useful and epochal differences from the other existing.

The gum, “Fuwarinka” gave the success to its company because it outstand others. Company can beat other competitors through innovation. But unfortunately, innovation cannot be made just for a day or a year; it requires quite long time of serious investigation. If it is so, is there no way to make the success in the business for companies which don’t have enough capital, technology and time? Of course not! There is a way; that is value innovation.

The value innovation is the systematic strategy to pioneer the new market which bestows a sustaining power to grow in the business and avoid or surpass competition. In the view value innovation, many companies are already in the market, therefore there are only few things to achieve to make profit and competition between companies is useless. The main strategy of value innovation is reducing or removing unnecessary values to save the prime cost. At the same time, company promotes or creates new values that other companies don’t have. Through this way, company can be differentiated from the others.

It is totally different from the Niche Marketing which focuses potential customers from the existing market; if Niche Marketing is getting into the competition, value innovation is getting out of the competition. And value innovation doesn’t need much capital and technology because it aims to maximize the efficiencies of the properties on what company already has.

Value innovation shows useful and epochal differences from traditional business strategies. Traditional business strategies aim to beat other competitors through their capital; companies have similar strategies and definitions of their customers and their demands in the market. Thus there are few differences between these companies and high competitions give damages to each other.

However, value innovation makes competition meaningless because it focuses customers, it does not attack competitors and but creates a new business. A new business model has totally different rules so there is nothing to compete. Also, it doesn’t destroy the existing business model but it gradually takes the demands of customers through reducing the sustaining power of profit from the existing business model. Without new business model, there is no possibility to gain new wealth.

Nowadays, customers don’t want to be controlled by companies but vice versa. It is quite similar with what Alvin Toffler had expected. According to him, in the future there will be Prosumer Marketing which is combination of producer and consumer. In Prosumer Marketing, customers are the one who ask to company what to produce; this is what value innovation focuses. But it doesn’t mean that value innovation focuses only the demands their existing consumers; they also give emphasis to those who are not their consumers. This is the way how value innovation works. Value innovation will give a brand power and the loyal customers will ignore imitators

Jung, Dea-Woung

I have a friend. His father is the owner of a restaurant. One day, I heard that his father’s restaurant was prosperous. Thus, I told my friend, "I guess that you are happy now because your father is earning more money than before so you can have more allowance and a gift from your father, right?" And my friend replied to me, "Well, I cannot feel any differences now. I can see that my father business is getting better but it doesn’t affect to me. I have same allowance as before. Actually it is getting worse; my father doesn’t increase my allowance but the price is getting higher so I am suffering by that. I think I should find a part-time job." This story is my friend’s story but it can be a story of the employees of the Philippines.

"The construction of $2-bliliion shipyard in Mindanao by South Korean investors, Hanjin"

"Texas Instruments will invest around $1 billion in Clark Freeport Zone." These kinds of news are no longer surprised to our readers. Many foreign investors are heading to the Philippines for their new business site. Also the Philippines unemployment rate had been falling in recent years. According to Department of Labor and Employment, it was at 11.7% in 2005, but now, it is just 7.4% (April, 2008).

However, for the employees of the Philippines, what I mentioned above is just others’ story. They are hard to feel the effects on the developing of the Philippine economy. In 2003, the average of family income was 148,000 pesos but in 2006, it was 142,000 and inflation rate in 2007 is 2.8% but April 2008, it is already 5.5% (source: Department of Labor and Employment).

Moreover the total numbers of overseas Filipinos (OFWs) is increasing. In 2005, there were 7,924,188 OFWs, but in 2007, there are almost 11,000,000 OFWs( Source: Philippine Overseas Employment Administration) It means that, although there are more opportunities to get a job than before, many Filipinos prefer to work abroad. Lots of useful human resources are leaking out abroad.

We all know that it is the right time to give changes for solving these problem But simply, how? One of the answers is the bench-marking from the advanced countries.

Undeniably, China is the one of strongest countries in the world. Also China has similar environments as the Philippines like wide lands, useful labors and sufficient resources. Past 3 years, China kept more than10% of the economy growth. But decade ago, China had faced the similar problem the Philippines face now. China government thought that they couldn’t solve their problem on their own. So what china government did is promoting of the foreign investments.

Since early 1990, china government applied only 15% of corporation tax to the companies which invest to China and during two years, there is no corporation tax and for next three years, there are reductions but at the same time, china government strictly applied Labor Contract Law for their labor. For example, company must hire 1.5% of the disables among its employees.  And the standard working hours in China are 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, for a maximum working period of 40 hours, with 2 rest days (typically Saturday and Sunday). Any additional requirements by the employer must be compensated according to the standard set out below:

Working days: 150% standard wages Rest days: 200% standard wages; and Holidays: 300% standard wages.

As a result, this policy brought out the increasing of the wages in China. During past three years, the wages of china employees increased almost 30%.  Not only wages, Company also should offer benefit packages like basic old age insurance; unemployment insurance; medical insurance; maternity insurance; and work-related injury insurance to the employees to guarantee their better life. If company doesn’t keep Labor Contract Law, company should pay heavy fines.

What I mention is just one of the possible answers to release the problems of employees in the Philippines. Now, many capitals are coming to the Philippines. The Philippine government should use this change well. Also there are still lots of ways. However leader of country should remember that the priority of the country is protecting and giving well-being to its public. The famous philosopher of China, Confucius said, “A leader should save properties of country and love his nations; these are the true way to develop the country,”

Sometimes, I ask myself questions like why should I live? Frankly, I cannot find any reasons because I don’t have a certain purpose, but it doesn’t mean that I live without any plans or goals. What I mean is that I want to have a purpose which makes my life valuable. I am studying hard and planning my future because there are some requirements to prevent weeding out in the society such as education, wealth, marriage and so on. If we don’t have those things, it is so hard to mingle with others. Thus we learn many things just for surviving. However I don’t want to survive; I want to live. That is why, I really like people who pursue their dreams; they are independent and active; they know Dos, Don’ts, and how to moderate themselves.

Until now, I am just surviving without a purpose. I think this makes me worry about my future. Maybe people who read this can think that you are a lucky duck because you can have a regular education and enough welfare to survive. Yes! I think you are right.  However, I think that if I am satisfied with what I have, I cannot promote my life. I strongly believe that if water doesn’t flow, water must be spoiled. I think, our lives are like water. Our lives should flow, and we should be the ones who build the way for making our lives flow before they are spoiled. Recently, I read a speech and I strongly agree with what he said; according to him, we don’t find the way, we build the way in life.

I will build my way in life whether it is good or not. Surely, the first step is finding what to do and I guess that this is the hardest part. I don’t know what chances God will give me and I believe that He always gives what I need and want. but I don’t notice it. Whether I get them or not, that is my responsibility. He is totally unpredictable, right? Anyway, He led me here to study English and I am thinking that this is a second chance among three in my life. Meaning to say, I will build the way in my life regarding with English. He gave me direction so it’s time to build my way in my life. Although I am worried about my future, I am happy now because I have something to do; I really hate doing nothing.

요건 쓴지 한 10개월??

This week, we learned three theories; two of them are regarding with relationship between media and its audiences and the other one is about communication. Among three theories, I really prefer to wirte about the spiral of silence because I experienced it many times as a victim of that.

According to the spiral of silence, fear of isolation is the key force that drives the spiral of silence.
Usually people don't want to be different from others; we can feel the distance if people are different from us in terms of physical appearance or opinion. When everyone says, “Yes” it is so hard to say, “No.” However my cases are something different. I should be silence whether I want or not. The reason was that I am nuturally different from others in the Philippines;I am a foreigner and I can't speck Tagalog so my classmates(not only our classmates but also classmates from other courses because I am irregular student) felt that I was different. That is why they wanted me to be silent . When I was first year and second year, I really hated group work; my group mates didn't ask anything about projects; they just gave me order. I didn't want to be treated that kind of way; I wanted to say and do something but I didn't have choice then. I should be silent because I experienced the fear of low grade(It's horrorble.) If someone ask, “why didn't you tell about it to your classmates then?”, my answer will be, “ I tried but they didn't care; whether I told it or not, it was same.” What I did to overcome this is that I started to make my own group, and I tried to do my best. I thought that if I want to change something, I should show them some nice outputs. First time, it was hard to do it, but time goes by, I changed what they think about me; now, I don't have any problem. I don't blame my classmates(not only our classmates but also classmates from other courses)about what I experienced because I understood why they did it.

I think that this experience gave me lots of positive effects on me. Although it started with negative effects, if I don't have that experience, I cannot be who I am now. This is what I experienced about the spiral of silence.  I learned really precious lesson from this that if I want to change something to become positive, before I try to change others, I should change by myself first.  I am not passive anymore.

이것도 쓴지 한 1년 넘은 것 같은데..

Oh!! I stopped my blog for more than 3 months. Yeah! I was kind of busy recently but now, I have time to do something becasue the projects I had are done. I am using Itunes since yesterday and I am continuously downloading video and audio lectures. Till now, I roamed 8 universities; among 8, Berkeley University has the best contents in terms of quality and quantity. You can notice from this picture that there are a lot of lectures.

Nowadays, I am interested with computer programs so I checked the lectures regarding with computer programming in Berkeley University. Oh! My God! They are professional programming structures and data structures and so on so I quickly moved the page back. hehe. I am not sure that video and audio lectures give you help to get an applicable knowledge or not, but I think that it is better than nothing, if you can understand them. A! One more thing! If you visit the site of Stanford University, at your right side of the monitor, you can see “download top 10.” The top 1 is the speech of Steve Jobs during graduation of Stanford(maybe); it is just 15 minutes long but his speech is really interesting. I guess that most of the people who are successful in the society are kind of like outsiders; they are somewhat different from the ordinaries. Probably that made them become successful.

Go back to Itunes, One more useful thing for me from Itunes is Podcasts, I knew that there was Podcasts in this world; it is used by plenty of users. Surely, my interest is English so I explored language section; I found one lecture series for better writing by “Grammar Girl.” I clicked download for whole parts, also I added, “Just vocabulary.” As a result, non I have 300 download lists;I am so greedy. Right? I guess I download them during whole weekend. And one good thing is that I thought files can be played only through Itunes, but based on my experience, they can be played using other players. Therefore, you can put them in your mp3 after converting.

I really admire what Apple is doing, they are gainnig money form the public and they are returning some to the public through various ways. Anyway I hope that you can find good lecture. There is always a way, if you want to do something. Promote pm your own for your future; without investigation, you cannot achieve anything. I will not download anymore until I finish all of those I downloaded. I am so happy now because I have lots of thing to do.

요고이 쓴지 한 1년 정도??? 전부다 확신을 못하겠네요 기억력이 붕어라서.. ㅡㅡ;

Nowadays, many new wards are created in Koran; there are related with unemployment. For example, NG(No Graduation) student who postpone graduation till he/she gets a job, and “Li-GU-Back” which means 90 percent of people who are belonging to age between 20 to 30 don’t have a job. These new words explain well about the situation of employment of Korea. If a person want to get better job, he/she needs to beat almost 300 people, meaning to say, if a company wants to hire 30 employees, 9000 people apply to get a job. In this situation, if a person gets a job, people think that he is the winner of surviving game in the society. Based on the research of Korea government, 40% of people who are belonging to age between 20 to 30 don’t have Job. This phenomenon was begun since 1994. Unemployment in Korea is already one of the biggest threats of development of Korea.

To solve this problem, the Ministry of Labor in Korea supported 40 million dollars to universities and companies, but they wasted the money for Job fairs which were just temporary events, so it didn’t help to solve essential problem. Also Korea government spent four billion dollars for three years to solve this problem, it produced jobs in the part of social insurance. However, it was not helpful to find a job to the people because it was not related with their interest and talent.

Moreover, in August 2006, Korea government made a law that if a probationary employee works in a company for more than two years, a company must hire him to be a regular employee. It seems like good for the employees. However, companies took advantage of it; companies fired their probationary employees before they work for more than two years and find new one. Korea government intended to reduce probationary employees however among 1,500,000 employees, 60 percent of them,8,500,000, are probationary employees now, and probationary employees increased 20 percent than last year. As a result, People don’t want to have that kind of job; people want to have stable job. This is the one of the reason to increase unemployment’s rate.

We need to have more essential way for solving this problem. It needs to start with education system. More than 30 percent of fresh graduate students get a job which is not regarding with their course. The reason is that when they choose their course, they find what they can afford to enter university based on their grade; it is one of the causes for making problem to find a job. If a person has certain plan in life based on his/her interest and talent, he/ she doesn’t weed out in the society. Thus, people should avoid planning their future based on trend, incredible information or impulse decision. We need to educate people steadily. They can minimize their mistakes by systematic education and job training which really important project individually and nationally. They are the essential treatment for solving this problem.

이건 쓴지 한 1년 3개월 정도 된 겉 같네요..

Today, I searched about employment of Korea for writing editorial for my class. I chose this topic because I knew that employment is really serious problem in Korea nowadays so I thought that there are many things to talk about it; my expectation is right.

After searching about it, I feel bad and quite worry about my future. According to my resources, 40% of people who are belonging to age between 20 to 30, don’t have a job and person need to beat 300 people. For example, if company wants to hire 30 employees, 9000 people apply to get a job from company.

That is why, people often say, “Li-GU-Bak” which means 90% percent of people who are belonging to age between 20 to 30 don’t have a job. This is just joke but it indicates what situation they encounter. They study English hardly for getting a job; they try to graduate university as possible as late because they expect that if time goes, the situation will be better; situation cannot be worse then now.

And I will be one of them soon; I need to adventure our society. That is why, their story is not others who I don’t need to take care, that will be my story. I hope that one years and half months later, the situation will be better than now.
